Lane & the Orbis

I’ve been intrigued for some time by the Orbis; advertised as the Orbis Ring Flash, though it doesn’t have a flash, but rather is a donut shaped plasticie diffuser placed on your flash.

The Orbis arrived today, and fellow photographer Lane Chevrier graciously agreed to be my subject as I experimented with it. Photographing Lane is always a treat; I don’t think I’ve ever met anyone who can produce as many expressions as he can. We decided to use a very wide angle lens, very close to his mug….

…the laugh meter definitely hit 10.

December Portraits

Here are a few more portraits from the Self-Portrait shoot on December 12th.

It was hard not to spend a lot of time with Lyndsey, who is beautiful inside and out. Lyndsey was working in the gallery on the 12th, so in between people coming in for shots, we had a lot of fun shooting her. These are just 3 more of the shots we took; have several more that will be part of the Amore-Infinito “People of 2009” video to go up on the site shortly after the New Year.

Keith was walking by the gallery when he noticed the flashes, so he popped in to see what was going on. We suggested that maybe he’d like some photo’s taken; and he jumped at the opportunity.

Weddings….

One of the courses we took at the Western Academy of Photography focused on engagements and weddings. I have previously worked, for 2 years, as a photographer for The Mission Record newspaper, and as well have covered various events for The Minerva Foundation in Vancouver, so I was looking forward to utilizing my photojournalistic style to the shoots.

Although I have shot a few weddings in the past, the course brought me up-to-date on the current trends with both weddings and engagements. The school brought in a few Bride and Grooms, and a fellow classmate and her husband also modeled for me.

 

Mike and Kayla Engagement Photographs

Adriana Durian Photography had the pleasure of shooting Mike and Kayla’s engagement photos. We went to the breakwater and beach, thinking that we’d be able to make it out to Goldstream Park before sunset. Who knew the walk to the lighthouse at the breakwater was so far!! We decided to do a second shoot the next day, and went to the old train & buildings in Esquimalt, a park, and then headed out to Goldstream Park.

Mike and Kayla were great to photograph, lots of fun and lots of input. Their wedding will be in 2011, so maybe before the big day we’ll meet again for another shoot.

Juliette

Braving the snow warnings, Juliette met me in the studio on December 13, 2008, where we wrapped up the session just as the snow flakes started hitting the streets. Who would have known at that time that Victoria would be hit with the worse snow fall in over a decade.

Juliette was an awesome model, and it helped that she is a fellow student at Western Academy; so together we were able to get some great shooting done. Here’s the first of the photographs to be posted … I’m sure you’ll agree, she’s quite beautiful.. Thanks so much for being my model, Juliette…

 

08_11_23 Beacon Hill Park with the Halls

I met today with Clayton, Aiko, and 16-month Violet for a short photo session in Beacon Hill Park, Victoria BC.

It was a wonderful experience, Violet was full of energy and most photogenic. It was wonderful to meet Clayton and Aiko, and I look forward to more photoshoots with them.
